People belonging from North-Eastern states of India are often made fun for their looks and appearance. Though India is making progress many Indians don't accept northeastern people as citizens of India. This thing has also entered the film industry. National award winner actress Geetanjali Thapa told in an interview that she faced discrimination when auditioned for a role in a movie. She was told that she didn't look Indian by face.
Initially, these comments were very hurting for her but the actress has now made herself tough. She also said that she has learnt to deal with such people and their mindset. Geetanjali is also known for her movie 'Liars' Dice' that made her won the national award. Her performance in the movie was much appreciated.
This shows how people are judged for their appearance in-spite of their talent and skills. Thapa has also signed a new project named 'Bioscopewala'. She won the national award for best actress for movie 'Liars' Dice'. The actress is also working with Dany Denzongpa, Adil Hussain and Tisca Chopra in movie 'Bioscopewala'. Geetanjali has also worked with big Indian director Vikramaditya Motwane in the movie 'Trapped'.
But what shocked everyone is even the Indian film industry, which is known for accepting talent from different states of the country could treat a northeastern girl like this. She also expressed her desire to work in roles other than a northeastern girl.
She is happy with the fact that there are filmmakers who are willing to work with her and cast her in different roles. Geetanjali made her Bollywood debut with movie 'I.D.' and also worked with actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Monsoon Shootout.
What do you say about Geetanajli being called as non-Indian face in-spite of being an Indian citizen?
