These days an application is giving competition to Facebook. People are getting inclined towards it and are finding it more entertaining. The application is 'Musical.ly' which allows the users to lip sync on the video they share. It is also being used by celebrities and users are enjoying it. As always Facebook never underestimates its competition. The news here is Facebook is coming up with a new feature which is based on the idea of 'musical.ly' and ' dubsmash'.
It is being tested in selected target markets and the feature is named as 'Lip Sync Live'. This feature allows users to add music to their personal video and they can also choose from a pool of songs. The feature also adds a 'With' option which will allow users to involve and add their friends to the video. It also gives a blend of creativity with camera effects and different backgrounds.
The pool of songs is uploaded with some famous songs like 'Havana' by Camila Cabello and 'God's Plan' by Drake. If someone sees an option of Lip Sync Live while starting a live video, they have options for adding music along with their videos. The video shared after using this option will allow the user's Facebook friends to see which song they have selected and which artist has sung the song originally. Tapping on the singer's name will also help them to follow the artist. Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg is no doubt working hard on making his application interesting in-spite of a tough competition emerging in the form of new applications.
Facebook is getting lesser attention from the teenagers these days. Apps like 'musical.ly' are attracting them as its more entertaining for them and also one doesn't need to have a singing talent for posting a video. This feature could be an opportunity to grab those teenagers who are shifting from Facebook to other applications. The music videos could also increase watch time and engagement on Facebook.
