Bollywood's Shenshah Amitabh Bachchan has worked in a number of super hit flicks in his long career, however one of his super hit acts is from the movie, Don.
Big B donned the character of a Mumbai based don and his mirror image Vijay who is a poor performing actor. The movie reached theaters in the year 1978 and was one of the super hit flicks of the year.
Today, the flick has completed 41 years and the super star made a shocking revelation regarding the movie.
Bollywood mega star made a special post on his personal blog in which he talked about the flick and stated, “DON was a name title that no one in the market approved of .. they never understood what it meant and never felt that a name such as DON was material for the title of a Hindi film ..In fact if truth be told .. for many it was quite an amusing title ..”
“There was at the time a very popular brand of vests, the ‘banyain’, that were carrying the name DAWN .. DON pronounced phonetically sounded much like that brand of under garment in the popular market .. and there was consternation in titling a film that conveyed an under garment, " he added up.
But, the super duper hit personality stated that after the influx of the Godfather series, people begun accepting this name and the movie turn out to be one of the most iconic movies in the history of Hindi cinema.
In actual fact, it was assigned to a class a golden jubilee by Box Office India.
The movie also has well known stars such as Zeenat Aman, Helen, Iftekhar and Pran donning the vital characters.
Don was helmed by Chandra Barot and was penned by Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar.
Given the success of the original Don, the film was remade by Farhan Akhtar in 2006 starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer don also received a lot of love from the fans and was a major box office success.
