Indian wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has broken the existing Indian record for the highest score by any wicket keeper in T20Is after his match winning 65 runs in the 3rd T20I against the West Indies in Guyana. Rishabh Pant overtook MS Dhoni's record by scoring the highest score in a T20I match by an Indian wicket keeper in the most stylish way.
MS Dhoni's score of 56 against England at Bengaluru in 2017 was so far the best score by any Indian wicket keeper in T20Is so far and Pant has just got ahead of the record.
In the absence of MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant will be playing all the three formats of the game in West Indies and in the last T20I against West Indies, he also had a 106 runs partnership with Indian captain Virat Kohli. This partnership helped India to successfully chase the target of 147 set by the West Indies team in the third T20I at the Providence Stadium.
It is India's second successive 3-0 whitewash against the West Indies in T20Is. India emerge the winners with a comfortable 7 wicket win over the Windies in the third T20I. Team India had won their first 2 matches of the T20I series in Florida before this game.
Rishabh Pant was really feeling the heat after he threw away his wicket in a childish manner in the previous T20Is held in Florida. In the first match, Pant was dismissed for a golden duck and in the second match he could make only 4 runs.
Eye brows were raised against the caliber of Rishabh Pant in the shortest format of the game as he threw away his wicket in the first to T20Is. He had also face a similar criticism in India's semifinal defeat against New Zealand in the 2019 world cup cricket.
