Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone fell in love on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. Then, they worked in SLB's Baajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. The couple who got married in November 2018 decided to tie the knot after dating each other for six years. It was an intimate ceremony at Italy's Lake Como. We have seen them in three films and equally excited to watch them once again. And here, they are coming together in Kabir Khan's upcoming directorial, '83.
Ranveer will be seen playing the role of former Indian skipper Kapil Dev under whose captaincy India won the world of 1983. They have been prepping for the same for quite some time now. On the other hand, the actress has also wrapped up the shooting of her first production project, Chhapaak. In '83, the actress will be seen in the role of the legendary cricketer’s wife Romi Bhatia.
Deepika talking about the film said, "I am so glad that Kabir (Khan) came to me with it. This happened a couple of months ago when he was still casting the boys for the film. It’s just that I was busy with Chhappak and we were waiting for the right moment to make the announcement."
In the interview, she was also asked if the dynamics between her and Ranveer will change as actors, to this she said, "When you are in the business of movies, you are playing a character. Of course, all of this is yet to play out, but at the end of the day, you are essaying a role, and at that point, you are not thinking whether your co-actor is your husband, brother or someone you know closely. All you try to do is, be honest in that moment."
"The personal equation doesn’t spill over into the workspace. I can’t think of anyone else who could do justice to the role (of Kapil Dev), but if there was someone else playing him in the film, and not Ranveer, I would still do my part. This isn’t coming from a personal equation, but from my passion and enthusiasm for the film," the actress further said.
Deepika is also co-producing '83. The highly anticipated film will hit the screens on April 10 next year. Deepika's next release will be Chhapaak which is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal. Meghna Gulzar is the director of this film. On the other hand, Ranveer will also be starring in Karan Johar's Takht and first-timer Divyang Thakkar's Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
