A couple from UP sells their newborn child for Rs 1.5 lakh to buy a four-wheeler

A couple in Uttar Pradesh have allegedly sold their three-month-old son for Rs 1.5 lakh in order to purchase a used car.

According to a media report, the matter came to light after the child's maternal grandparents filed a complaint against the parents on Thursday.

According to grandparents, the parents, who live in Kannauj's Tirwa Kotwali police station area, sold their three-month-old baby to a Gursahaiganj-based businessman for Rs 1.5 lakh "to buy a four-wheeler."

“While the baby is still in the possession of the trader,” said an inspector Kotwali Shailendra Kumar Mishra, “we have called the woman and her husband for questioning on Friday.” The inspector stated that the couple had recently purchased a used car.

What a bizarre incident is this, how could any parent do such a thing to their child? And the reason for such a heinous act was a car! We've heard of people abandoning their children in orphanages for reasons such as financial stability or being unprepared to be parents, but this is a case that no one can fathom.
