On the 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi on Tuesday. Indian missions arranged LED video projections that highlighted Bapu's life and philosophy at 120 locations globally, including at iconic landmarks such as Dubai's Burj Khalifa and the UK's Piccadilly Circus.
Dubai And UK have given the biggest salute to the Father of Our Nation. World's tallest skyscraper, The Burj Khalifa was lit in colors of tricolor with an image of Mahatma Gandhi. The building broadcasted Bapu's popular quotes using special LED screenings. The videos were also accompanied by the most beautiful version of Mahatma Gandhi's favorite bhajan, "Vaishnav Jana To" which was played in the background. In a visual narrative way with the use of the line-art style of hand-drawn illustrations layered with watercolor and ink wash represents the lucidity and coherence of the teachings and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi.
"Be the change you wish to see in the world," "Non-violence is the virtue of the strong," "Poverty is the worst form of violence", were some of the famous quotes that beamed during the special screening.
More Than 120 locations around the world became a medium to spread Mahatma Gandhi's sayings in order to impart the message of truth, peace and non- violence in the present generation. Some of the locations include London's Piccadilly Circus, Vienna's Welt Museum, Budapest's Buda Castle, Rome's Palazzo Senatorio and Indonesia's Prambanan Temple.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said that these videos highlight the relevance of Mahatma’s life and philosophy in today’s world and his ability to inspire the present generation. “To celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, missions abroad will continue to highlight the relevance of Gandhi in a unique way through projecting his message in the form of an LED video on iconic buildings in these countries or on other prominent locations,” the statement said.
