Comedy King, Johnny Lever will turn 62 tomorrow! His struggles to make it big

Johnny Lever is now a well-known name not only in India but worldwide but not many of us know about his struggles and his journey towards success.

He basically comes from Prakasam, Andhra Pradesh and was born in a Telugu Christian Family. Brought up in the slums of Dharavi, his father used to work as an operator in Hindustan Lever Ltd.

Johnny's real name is John Rao Prakash Rao Janumala and was the eldest child of the family. He had to.drop out of school because of the financial crisis and he started to do menial jobs in Mumbai, such as selling pens on roads etc. He also learnt a unique style of comedy acting in Yakutpura, old Hyderabad.

He then started working at HUL with his father and also used to entertain his co-workers through his mimicking skills. There he was given hua name Johnny Lever and he kept it after entering Bollywood.

He gradually started getting shows in the orchestras and slowly became popular. Then he got a chance to join Kalyanji - Anandji and went on a world tour with them. He got a chance to do a show with Amitabh Bacchan in 1982, and it was during these shows when Sunil Dutt noticed him and offered him a movie "Dard Ka Rishta". TV commercials further added in his popularity.

It was then he started to get several noteworthy projects and he got popular among public because of his comic skills and timing. Since then, he has never looked back and is still a huge name in the field of comedy.
