Proposals are special and everyone wants it to be the best and unique. The thought of proposing to our partners come across your mind at least once. Most of us dream to be proposed or proposing with candlelights, an expensive ring, a picturesque location or maybe something special that you planned for your partner.
Well, in the case Indian chess player-turned-journalist Niklesh Jain, something different happened and its unique. Niklesh couldn’t have chosen a better place to put forward his feelings.
Former chessplayer decided to give his girlfriend Angela Franco, a surprise. And this heartwarming moment is witnessed by many on Tuesday in the ongoing Chess Olympiad in Georgia. His girlfriend Angela is a Colombian Chess player who was a participant in the grand tournament.
Just before her match which is going to start in a few minutes, Niklesh took a moment and went down on his knees with a ring which took Angela by surprise and initially she taken aback but happily accepted the proposal afterward. Niklesh proposed Angela in the main hall where a number of matches were going on. Later the crowd cheers the couple loud in the hall.

According to Hindustan Times, Niklesh said that the Olympiad, which is known as the “temple for chess players” seemed to be the perfect place for such a moment like this. He said:
"ACTUALLY, I AM A CHESS PLAYER AND SHE IS TOO. THERE WERE A FEW PLACES WHERE I COULD HAVE PROPOSED HER, BUT THEN I THOUGHT WHAT BETTER COULD IT BE THEN THE CHESS OLYMPIADS. THERE ARE 189 COUNTRIES WHO ARE PLAYING HERE AND FOR US, THIS IS OUR TEMPLE".
Talking about their relationship, Niklesh revealed that they met each other in Barcelona at the Catalan circuit and have been dating for 1.5 years.
“I HAD BEEN PLANNING THIS FOR SOME TIME. WE HAVE BEEN DATING FOR 1.5 YEARS AFTER WE MET IN BARCELONA IN THE CATALAN CIRCUIT. WE WERE PLAYING OUR MATCHES NEXT TO EACH OTHER. I WON THAT GAME AGAINST A TOUGH OPPONENT, EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT TRYING TO IMPRESS HER. BUT WE STARTED TALKING.”
