In spite of a well known star cast, Kalank is making attempts to perform good at the box office. Whilst it commenced its BO run with Rs 21.60 crore, the film lost its sheen by the end of weekend,.
Well known film trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the flick earned just Rs 66.03 crore thus far.
"#Kalank is rejected... Has a lacklustre *extended* opening weekend... Will find it difficult to sustain on weekdays... Arrival of #AvengersEndgame [on Fri] will hit biz hard... Wed 21.60 cr, Thu 11.45 cr, Fri 11.60 cr, Sat 9.75 cr, Sun 11.63 cr. Total: ₹ 66.03 cr. India biz," he tweeted.
About the film’s failure, Alia Bhatt stated, “Audience verdict is the biggest proof for a film and if the audience does not accept a film, then it should not do well. That's just the way it is. We should accept it, come back, try and make sure they're not disappointed next time."
The movie did not obtain positive reviews from reviewers. The Indian Express movie reviewer Shubhra Gupta gave just one-and-a-half stars to the flick.
In the appraisal, Shubhra Gupta stated, “There is enough and more here, plot-wise, for a bunch of films. But finally, despite Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s histrionics (the former looking as if he could well belong to that era, and Bhatt staying watchable, if increasingly, exasperatingly familiar), and Dixit’s wondrous dancing abilities (nobody can touch her when it comes to the grace she displays when she is on the floor), Kalank doesn’t really lift off the screen."
Khiladi Kumar starrer Kesari has performed really well at the BO. It made around Rs 1.25 crore on its fourth Saturday. After the addition of these earnings, the Anurag Singh film has entered the Rs 150-crore club.
The Ayushmann Khurrana movie Andhadhun is eyeing extravagant profits at the box office in the Chinese zone. The film is currently the third top grossing Indian movie in China after Dangal, and Secret Superstar. It has already exceeded the earnings of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Hindi Medium. The film has crossed 300 crore mark in China.
As per the trade expert Taran Adarsh, Director Robbie Grewal's nationalistic-thriller has gathered Rs 1.25 crore on its second Friday at the Indian BO. In addition, the film grossed around Rs 29.50 crore in its week 1 at the Indian BO.
