Birthday Special! Legendary Filmmaker Satyajit Ray Won 32 Indian National Film Awards

Satyajit Ray, the multi-talent Indian who had hands full of talent of not just filmmaking but also he was a screenwriter, graphic artist, music composer, and an author. India is really blessed to have him in the nation, as today marks his 97th birth anniversary.

Almost a century ago, on May 2, Satyajit Ray was born in a Bengali Brahmo family to legendary poet Sukumar and his wife Suprabha Ray.

Whenever people watched out his films, every time got a vast impact on life and to describe the same, once filmmaker Akira Kurosawa said, "Not to have seen the cinema of Ray means existing in the world without seeing the sun or the moon."

Legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray won 32 Indian National Film Awards, a Golden Lion, a Golden Bear, 2 Silver Bears, Academy Honorary Award and also the highest civilian award of India i.e. the Bharat Ratna.

Well, to celebrate his 97th birth anniversary, we have made a list of his best film:

#Pather Panchali:  Simply, a word masterpiece can describe the artwork of Ray in the film Pather Panchali which was based on the childhood of lead actor Subir Banerjee and his elder sister. Well, this film has alone won 11 international prizes including the inaugural Best Human Document award

#Shatranj Ke Khilari: Rather than Bengali films, Ray has directed Hindi films too and Shatranj Ke Khilari was the first Hindi film directed by him. However, this film got an official entry for Oscars from India.

#Charulata:  The Lonely Wife named as Charulata was based on Rabindranath Tagore’s novel. Charulata bagged 2 national awards including best film and best director.
