18th August is the birthday of many famous celebrities like Gulzar and singer Daler Mehndi. Yes, Daler Mehndi turns 51 today but in this 51 years, he made us dance on his strong voice. He has the passion for music and singing since his childhood. Well, many think to achieve some great success in life with the support of family but he had a passion that even made him leave his parents and home too.

Born as Daler Singh in Patna, Bihar he was also very inspired from Patiyala Gharana and took lessons from Late Ustad Raaahat Ali Khan Sahib. He completely belongs to the Indian Classical background. Daler Mehendi started his musical career from Bolo Ta Ra Ra.

When he left home at the age of 11: Yes, to take lessons from famous Ustad Rahat Ali Khan Sahib he left his home and ran away to Gorakhpur. And, after 2 years he performed in front of 20 thousand people in Jaunpur.

He charged only Rs. 1 to sing a song: Born in Patna, Daler had his music education from Music House and Crown Music School, Patna City. People of that time say, he only took Rs. 1 to sing. Isn't that shocking?

Daler Mehendi performed with Deadmau5 . When the Canadian music producer came to India to perform in March 2014. The duo performed “Tunak Tunak Tun.” He is a philanthropist also who created his own enterprise called the “Daler Mehndi Green Drive.” Apart from singing, he supports homeless children in Kenya, underfeeding families in Orissa, and helps the families of Kargil martyrs.
