In a recent controversy in Bihar, many of the students who appeared for Bihar Boards examination said that they have received more marks than the total marks itself. Some students said that they have received marks in papers for which they have never appeared. Yes, some students have received 38 marks out of a total of 35 marks.
The Bihar board has always been surrounded by controversy since 2016 when a girl named Rubi, who is a student of Vishun Roy College in Vaishali district and topped in the Arts stream, was unable to answer even simple questions and a big controversy was revealed.
According to a report by a leading daily, Bhim Arwal, one of the students who got more marks than the total marks, said that he received 38 marks out of 35 marks in Mathematics (Theory) paper. He also received 37 marks out of 35 marks in objective-type questions in the same subject.
Janvi Singh, who hails from Vaishali district, said that she hadn't even appeared for the Biology examination. In a surprising turn of events, she had received 18 marks in the subject.
Sandeep Raj, another student who experienced a similar fate, received 38 marks out of 35 in Physics (Theory) examination. Sandeep who hails from East Champaran said, "How is it possible? I got zero in the objective-type questions in English and Rashtra Bhasha."
It is said that marks are not everything to determine a student's abilities and future. However, in our country, marks matter for sake of admissions in college and not for getting a job in a multi-national company. But, if the students are given 38 marks out 35, how will they get admission in any of the college, which college will agree to accept students with such mark sheet just because of board's negligence.
We hope that a committee intervenes and investigates this controversy of Bihar board.
