One of them is singer Anup Jalota, a well-known personality of Bollywood whose songs are definitely a treat to hear.

Anup is best known for his performances in the Hindu devotional music bhajans and the Urdu form of poetry, ghazals. The talented musician and singer has a set of loyal fans who regularly listen to his beautiful compositions.

Mr Jalota is popularly known as the Bhajan Samraat or the Emperor of Bhajans. He has achieved a lot of fame and success in his long career span.

The singer has been bestowed with Padma Shri in the year 2012 in the field of Art-Indian Classical Music- Vocal by Government of India.

Anup Jalota has earned a record number of 100 certified gold, platinum and multi-platinum discs.

Mr. Jalota has received credit for many popular Bhajans and gazals which include Aisi Lagi Lagan, Chaand Angdaiyaan Le Raha Hai, Tumhare Shahar Ka Mausam, Jag Mein Sundar Hai Do Naam, Kabhi Kabhi Bhagwan Ko Bhi, Tere Man Mein Raam, Shree Hanuman Chalisa, Noorani Chehra (Ismaili Devotional songs) among others.

Though Anup gained a worldwide recognition for his singing abilities, his personal life went through several ups and downs. The singer’s first marriage was with a music student and later a competent singer Sonali Sheth. However, the duo later parted ways. Anup’s second marriage was with Bina Bhatia, but even that didn’t last long. The singer’s third marriage was with Medha Gujral, niece of former Indian Prime Minister I. K. Gujral and director Shekhar Kapur's first wife whom he had divorced in 1994. The couple was blessed with son Aryaman in the year 1996. Well, destiny had no plans to have Anup a happy married life and his wife died to due liver failure following a second heart and first kidney transplant on November 25, 2014 at a hospital in New York City.
