There has been a sudden spike in positive cases in India and it is being termed as the worst phase of the ongoing health crisis. Each day over 3 lakh cases are being reported daily. Many countries including Italy, Germany, Iran, Singapore and even Bangladesh have restricted entry of travellers from India. The decision has been taking on an immediate basis owing to the situation in the country. The latest to join the list is the Maldives.
Taking to their official Twitter handle, the Ministry of Tourism announced that they will be suspending flights from India. The tweet read, “With effect from 27 April HPA mv suspends tourists travelling from #India to the Maldives from staying at tourist facilities in inhabited islands. We thank you for the support in our endeavour to make tourism safest possible with minimum inconvenience (sic).”
As soon as the announcement was done, the netizens flooded the social media sites with rib-tickling memes allegedly aiming at Bollywood celebs Janhvi Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tiger Shroff. These B-Towners have been posting pictures from the paradise island when India is currently under such worst circumstances.
In fact, even Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt also flew out of India immediately after recovering from the illness. A few social media users passed sarcastic remarks while others posted clips from Bollywood movies.
The rage on social media was all about how these celebrities and influencers who live in their privilege bubble are turning a blind eye to whatever is happening around them.
However, the thing everyone has missed out on is that The Ministry of Tourism has restricted the travellers from staying at facilities and budget hotels in the inhabited islands. Thus, these restrictions will only affect those who would have visited these islands.
The thing is, B-Town stars who visit the beach destination do not stay at the inhabited island. Instead, they choose to stay on uninhabited islands making the newly implemented rules hardly affecting their travel plans.
