Award-Winning Ram Mandir Tableau On 72nd Republic Day To Get Special Postal Cover Soon

At the 72nd Republic Day parade, Uttar Pradesh showcased their cultural heritage by presenting a theme based on Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The tableau on the theme was called ‘Ayodhya: Cultural Heritage of Uttar Pradesh’. The marvellous tableau was honoured the as best among 32 tableaux by Union Minister Kiren Rijju on January 28, 2021.

For the unknown, the tableau was a replica of Ram temple, alongside a glimpse of ‘Deepotsav’ and various stories of the epic of Ramayana. The tableau was so eye-catchy that the Department of Post has joined hands with the Sangam Philatelic Club and has started work on special postal covers.

M Gulrez who is the general secretary of Sangam Philatelic Club, said, “The plan is to issue the special postal cover by March 2021 and donate funds generated through its sale for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.”

Furthermore, he added that their team is at this moment working on the design of the proposed special postal cover. Mr Glurez has also mentioned that the documents of the same will soon be sent to the Chief postmaster general in Lucknow for their approval. Thus this will green-light the printing of these special postal covers.

The initial plan is to print 5,000 to 10,000 special postal covers. However, M Gulrez also added that the final number and cost of the cover will be decided after the postal department approves the proposal.

This isn’t the first time that The Sangam Philatelic Club and department of posts have collaborated. Earlier, they had joined hands on the special occasion of Diwali back in 2020. They made a special postal cover in honour of ‘Shri Ramlala Temple’ of Ayodhya.

The special postal cover was released at the head post office, Civil Lines, Prayagraj. The cover in honour of ‘Shri Ramlala Temple’ was conceived by M Gulrez and it was designed by Rajiv Mishra of Sangam city.
