As the date comes closer for the premiere of Sacred Games 2, Anurag Kashyap shares memories from the web series’ schedules.
Anurag Kashyap is making his comeback with the second installment of his well known and acclaimed Netflix series, Sacred Games on Independence Day. As the clock ticks for the debut of the new season, Kashyap says of satisfying and staying up on the expectations is substantial, yet he is happy with the substance.
"I feel the pressure is more this time. When we began the first season, we had no clue about the impact we would make. So, we could do just what we needed to do," Kashyap told IANS during a set visit of the show.
"Presently it (the show) has turned giant. We feel like, one shouldn't do something so enormous - build a fan-following that hold so much expectation that in the subsequent season, it becomes hard to handle it! Just joking! Of course, we love the fact that we made the show exactly as we needed. So, I am under pressure but I am happy!" he said.
The story spins around Inspector Sartaj Singh and offender Gaitonde, played by Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The adventure of these two characters are interlaced, and at last, they have a face-off.
While Neeraj Ghaywan coordinated the story track of Sartaj, Anurag made the universe of Gaitonde.
"I would have loved to do both the story tracks - of Sartaj Singh just as Gaitonde. However, understanding Sartaj's world is in itself an assignment. We would have required two months in advance to get there. Honestly, time is a factor," he said when inquired as to whether he needed to coordinate the whole of the season independently.
In the course of recent years, from the time he took up the co-coordinating Sacred Games till now, Kashyap has additionally worked on his films as, Mukkabaaz and Manmarziyaan, which has also been released during this time.
"I would do 'Manmarziyaan' in Amritsar constantly during the day, and edit 'Sacred Games' by night. Prior to that, even as we picturised the principal season of 'Sacred Games', I was assembling the post-production of 'Mukkabaaz'. So fundamentally, a great deal of madness occurred in the course of the recent 2 years. I even lost some weight too!" he said.
Season two has been broadly picturised abroad, for example, South Africa, Ukraine, Croatia, and Kenya, aside from different parts of Mumbai.
Sharing an episode to underline how famous and known Nawazuddin's character is among the group of spectators, Kashyap stated, "Gaitonde has an enormous fan following abroad. We were looking for a bungalow in Kenya, and we really figured out how to get the bungalow for the on the grounds that the proprietor came to realize that Gaitonde was coming to picturise Sacred Games! Nawaz Bhai is really famous there!"
Radhika Apte and Kubbra Sait got famous among the group of spectators in the principal season. In the new season, the show highlights actors as, Pankaj Tripathi, Kalki Koechlin, Luke Kenny, Ranvir Shorey, and Shobita Dhulipala.
Sacred Games 2 debuts on Netflix on August 15.
