Anil Kapoor and Sridevi had done several movies and they were one of the most popular onscreen pairs. Director Yash Chopra once wanted to cast Sridevi and Anil Kapoor for his film Chandni. Anil was offered Rishi Kapoor role in Chandni but he turned down the offer. However, the reason behind Anil's refusal was still unknown.
During his recent media interaction with a leading news portal, the Fanney Khan actor revealed why he had actually said no to Rishi Kapoor’s role.
Anil said, “I had said no to Chandni, because I didn't want to sit in a wheelchair.”
He further continued, “I was just not in a frame of mind to sit in a wheelchair through an entire film. I was, in fact, one of the first people to call Yashji and tell him, "Picture hit hai!" He couldn't believe it. I had done two films [Mashaal, Vijay] with him, and both hadn't done well.”
Anil went on record to say that he did a few films for signing amount. Further clarifying his statement, the 61-year-old actor stated, “No, not the signing amount; for the whole thing - advance mein. But the past is past. Why should I say now, why I did them? But 1942 and Lamhe were the kind of exciting films that were not being made [back then]. Yashji wanted to do something post-Chandni, since it was a success.”
Further, when Anil Kapoor was asked about Mr. India's sequel with his brother Boney Kapoor, he said, “It's a tough film to make. Obviously we have discussed it. But being the kind of people we are, it has to be something really special. So whenever it has to happen, it will. Boney and I are really positive people.”
Anil and Sridevi had starred in films like Mr. India, Ladlaa, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Karma, Lamhe, Mr Bechara, Sone Pe Suhaaga, Judaai, Ram Avatar.
