India’s well-known film music and production company T-series is all set to come up with Gulshan Kumar’s biopic. Gulshan Kumar was the founder of this company.
The film is reportedly titled as Mogul and is all set to be on the big screen in the coming year.
Like we all know, Akshay Kumar had been roped in to play the titular role of Gulshan Kumar. However, he backed off the project due to some creative differences and also returned the signing amount.
However, the makers have not finalized the male lead but the announcement is expected to be made soon.
Yesterday, T-series took to Twitter to announce the latest update of the biopic. The company is all set to collaborate with Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood Aamir Khan for the first time. Aamir will be co-producing the film with Bhushan Kumar.
The tweet read, “#AamirKhanProduction & T-Series are happy to announce Christmas 2019 as the release date for the biopic on #GulshanKumar, written and directed by @subkapoor. Filming to begin early next year.
#BhushanKumar #TeamAKP @aamir_khan @TSeries.”
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh also announced the release date of the biopic and wrote, "Aamir Khan Productions and T-Series to release Gulshan Kumar biopic in Christmas 2019. Written and directed by Subhash Kapoor... Filming to begin early next year."
A popular news daily reported that Aamir was keen on co-producing the biopic and wanted certain changes in the film hence the screenplay was being edited.
The source further revealed, "The screenplay is currently being tweaked to make it more about Gulshan's rise from being a fruit juice vendor to the owner of the biggest music label in the country. Aamir is a big believer in underdog stories.”
The reports also revealed that Aamir wanted to cut down on the aspects related to the underworld which took Gulshan Kumar’s life. He wanted the biopic to focus on Gulshan Kumar’s struggle and how he became so much popular.
The source revealed, “Aamir wanted the underworld details to be reduced. The alleged role of the underworld in Gulshan Kumar's death will be eliminated. The film will just touch upon these topics."
The film will go on floors early next year and will be directed by Subhash Kapoor.
