59 YO MLA Goes Back To School After He Gets Motivation From His 4 Daughters

Age is only a number for 59-year-old BJP MLA Phool Singh Meena, who has enrolled himself in a graduation course, as he had to drop out from school because of his father's demise.

BJP MLA from Udaipur city named Meena is a father of four little girls, who urged him to complete his schooling.

Meena told a leading news daily, “After the death of my father, I had to drop out of school and take up farming to take care of my family.”

During a campaign to educate girls from tribal villages, the MLA said he wanted to complete his studies and was urged by her little girls to return to school.

He filled the examination form from an open board for class 10 in the year 2013, but he couldn't attend the examination because of his busy career as an MLA. In any case, he showed up for exams in 2016 and cleared it. At that point in 2016-2017, he passed class 12.

MLA Meena said he was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign. He also urged ST and SC girls in his constituency to enrol themselves in schools.

He also made an announcement of the free plane ride to Jaipur for young girls scoring over 80% in secondary and higher secondary examinations.

Meena said, “Two students were provided free plane rides to Jaipur in 2016 and six in 2017. They were felicitated by the chief minister and her cabinet colleagues and also given a tour of the state Legislative Assembly."

The performance of girl students has improved due to the campaign, said Meena.

He has announced free plane rides to motivate girls belonging to general category in his constituency.

Meena said that he is very unhappy that he couldn’t continue his studies beyond class 7 though he encouraged others to get educated.

Meena said, “While encouraging others to study, I felt deep pain that I did not complete my education. My daughters sensed the pain and motivated me to go back to school.”

Meena, who recently appeared for BA first year exams, believes if the people's representatives are educated, only then they can motivate others.
