The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief has said that the space agency is quickly getting ready to send ‘Gaganyaan,' It will be the first manned space mission launched by the organisation.
According to a report in TOI, The 3 chosen Indians will be able to reach the space in just 16 minutes from the space centre in Sriharikota. They will then 5-7 days there. ISRO Chief K Sivan said that Gaganyaan will certainly be launched in 2022. He said that ISRO has lined up 19 missions till March 2019.
"Next year we will be launch SSLV, a small vehicle which will be assembled innovatively in only 3 days instead of the usual 60 days and by 6 people instead of 600," said K Sivan.
He further added, “ISRO has lined up 19 missions till March 2019. January 3 to February 16, 2019, is the window for the launch of Chandrayaan2."
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said, "Our weather forecast is now 100% accurate, because now we are combining Radar and Satellite information."
On the occasion of 72nd Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big announcement during his speech at Red Fort. He said, "India has always advanced in space science but we have decided that by 2022 when India completes 75 years of Independence, or before that, a son or daughter of India will go to space with a tricolour in their hands.”
Following PM Modi's announcement, ISRO Chairman Sivan K said the space agency is ready to fulfill the promise PM Modi has made to the country. He said, “It came as a surprise to us, I was not expecting this but it is a great gift to Isro and we are confident of sending Indians to space in the next four years, although it is a tight schedule.”
