20 YO Neeraj Chopra Who Won Gold At Asian Games Is a JCO of the Indian Army

20 Year old Neeraj Chopra had made India proud at Asian Games 2018 who created history bringing the first ever Gold Medal in Javelin Throw for India at Asian Games. He also made a new record in Javelin throw with an attempt of 88.03 m.  He bagged the Gold medal only in third attempt and also broke his previous best record of 87.43 m.

After winning the Gold, Neeraj said, "The competition was good, I had trained well and was focused on getting a gold medal for the country. I dedicate my medal to Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji who was a great man."

With this, he became the hero of Asian Games 2018 held in Indonesia.

He is the first Indian Javelin Thrower to win a gold at Asian Games. This is India's only second medal in the Javelin Throw in Asian Games history. Before Neeraj, Gurtej Singh had won bronze in 1982 in New Delhi.

Neeraj shattered his own National Record by clearing a distance of 88.06 m in his third attempt.

Neeraj is the son of a farmer in Haryana. He did his education from DAV College, Chandigarh. He is a Junior Commissioned Officer of The Indian army with the rank of Naib Subedar.

He used to train for hours at local training centres. He is currently coached by Uwe Hohn.

Earlier, Neeraj had won a Gold  at the 2016 South Asian Games with a throw of 82.23 m, and created the Indian national record. He also won a gold medal in 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. However, he failed to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics  .

He bagged another gold medal in Asian Athletic championships 2017 with a throw of 85.23 meters. In May 2018, he again broke the national record at the Doha Diamond League with a throw of 87.43 meters.

Neeraj Chopra has always made our country proud.
