"A friend in need is a friend indeed," this statement is rightly proved by a schoolboy who saved his friend's life. 11-year-old Sujaya and 12-year-old Adithya, both the friends from Government Higher Primary School were going home from their school through a swollen stream.
Unfortunately, Adithya missed his step on the temporary narrow footbridge and slipped from the bridge. Well, without panicking, Sujaya rushed to his aid and grabbed him as he was hanging from the bridge.
Being a true friend he had put all his power to hold on to Adithya. And, then they both started screaming for help. After listening to their screams, locals rushed to the spot and pulled up Adithya.
The gap between the temporary footbridge and stream is about 20ft. And, some of the eyewitnesses have said: “If the boys had fallen into the water, they could have died.”
Well, during the monsoon time in villages of the coastal district this is the usual scene to be witnessed. Villagers always risk their lives using them because they have no other option. Well, after this incident one thing is confirmed, "all you need is a real friend by your side."
